What is Play Money Rewards and how does it work?

The City of Gold Coast is investing $3 million into a Play Money Rewards program to support the city’s tourism, dining, retail, and arts/culture industries. The program is being facilitated by Destination Gold Coast. The Play Money Rewards program is available to Gold Coast residents with 60,000 rewards of $50 each on offer. To secure a $50 Play Money Reward, you can purchase a range of awesome Gold Coast tours and attractions and when you spend a minimum of $100, you will get a $50 discount! A limit of two Play Money Rewards will be available to Gold Coast residents aged 18 years or over from 9.00am AEST on Thursday, 16 September 2021 until the maximum allocation of 60,000 Play Money Rewards have been exhausted. All Play Money Rewards must be used by 11.59pm AEST on Friday, 31 December 2021.

Am I eligible to purchase a PLAY MONEY REWARD?

To be eligible, you must be at least 18 years old, a resident of the Gold Coast and have your own unique email address. You must also be using the PLAYMONEYREWARDS promo code for the first time (two codes per person).

What defines the Gold Coast location?

When purchasing a Play Money Reward, you will be asked for your residential address, which must be within the Gold Coast local government area. General Booking Process

How do I purchase a Play Money Reward?

From 9am AEST on Thursday, 16 September, Gold Coast residents will be able to select a restaurant, hotel, retail shop that they would like to visit and purchase a $100 Play Money Rewards voucher for only $50! Upon entering your payment details and entering your promo code PLAYMONEYREWARDS, $50 will be deducted from your transaction when you purchase the $100 Play Money Reward voucher. Gold Coast residents will also be able to select a Gold Coast tour or attraction that they would like to visit and purchase, and when you spend a minimum of $100 on one transaction, you will receive a $50 discount. Upon entering your payment details, there will be a field to enter the promo code PLAYMONEYREWARDS. $50 will be deducted from your transaction when your minimum spend is $100.

Is there a minimum spend to use the PLAYMONEYREWARDS code?

Yes. A minimum spend of $100 on one transaction will be required to receive the $50 Play Money Reward discount. When you enter the PLAYMONEYREWARDS code at checkout, $50 will be taken off your purchase.

How long will Play Money Rewards be available for purchase?

There are limited numbers of Play Money Rewards available for use, so the promotion will continue until allocations are sold out. Think of it like a bar tab - we’ve locked and loaded 60,000 promo codes for use and once they run out, that’s it! While two Play Money Rewards are available per person, only one Play Money Reward can be applied per transaction, for eligible Gold Coast residents.

How many Play Money Rewards can I purchase?

Two Play Money Rewards are available per person (per eligible Gold Coast resident) until the allocation has been exhausted. We expect these to sell out fast, so purchase your Play Money Reward whilst you can!

How long is my Play Money Reward valid for?

You can use your Play Money Reward between 9.00am AEST 16 September 2021 until 11.59pm AEST 31 December 2021. Your Play Money Reward will expire from 1 January 2022.

After purchasing my Play Money Reward on the website, how will I receive it?

You will be emailed your Play Money Reward via the email you entered. This will have a unique code and pin which the business will validate when you arrive for your booking or pay for your experience.

After purchasing my Play Money Reward, when can I use it?

After purchasing your tour and attraction on the Play Money Rewards website, you can redeem this anytime from 9am AEST Thursday 16 September until 11:59pm 31 December 2021. It will be expired thereafter. For all dining, accommodation and retail purchases, we suggest contacting the business to book in your experience and mention that you will be using your Play Money Reward. The business may ask for your Play Money Reward on arrival or when you book so they can validate it. They will then ‘redeem’ your Play Money Reward using the Play Money Reward unique code and pin, which will then be deducted from your bill.

What if I change my mind after purchasing my Play Money Reward experience?

After purchasing your experience using the Play Money Reward, you cannot change your mind or 'swap' this for another business. Only businesses listed on the Play Money Reward website are participating in this program.

Dining, Accommodation and Retail Play Money Rewards

I purchased a $100 Play Money Reward from the dining, accommodation or retail category, what happens next?

You will receive your $100 Play Money Reward via email, please present this at the business you have purchased your Play Money Reward voucher with. We suggest calling ahead to book and notify them that you will be using your Play Money Reward voucher. When paying your bill, a staff member will deduct the $100 Play Money Reward from your total bill once they have validated the Play Money Rewards voucher.

I’m at the business using my Play Money Reward and the bill has come to under $100, what happens?

Any un-used value of your $100 Play Money Reward will be forfeited. For example, if you have purchased a $100 Play Money Reward for a chosen restaurant and the bill comes to $85 - no change will be issued. It is in your best interest to make a purchase of minimum $100 to get the full value of your Play Money Reward! Your Play Money Reward must be used in ONE transaction and cannot be retained for a second visit. If your bill is over $100, and you have applied your Play Money Reward credit, additional costs/purchases are at the expense of the customer and will be settled directly with the business.

What about paying a bill at a restaurant with friends that also have a Play Money Reward for the same restaurant?

Yes, customers can combine their Play Money Rewards towards the same bill (if the business allows bill-splitting).

Can I use my Play Money Reward for an existing booking?

You cannot apply the $100 Play Money Reward voucher towards an experience/booking you have already paid in full. The Play Money Reward is to be applied to new bookings made after 16 September 2021 and redeemed before 31 December 2021.

What if I need to cancel my booking? Can I receive the value of my booking for another product or service?

No, you cannot 'change' your Play Money Reward for redemption at another business. You can rebook your experience for another date (before 31 December 2021). If you cancel your booking and do not rebook and redeem before 31 December 2021 your Play Money Reward will expire.

Do I need to present my Play Money Reward when redeeming the experience in person?

Yes. You will need to present a Play Money Reward to the business: • On your mobile as a digital Play Money Reward with a unique code and pin • As a printed voucher with a unique Play Money Reward code and pin. A staff member will validate your Play Money Reward using the code and pin displayed on your Play Money Reward voucher. They will then apply the $100 credit off your bill at time of transaction. The Play Money Reward must be used in ONE transaction, purchases above $100 will be at the customers expense and paid directly to the business. For purchases under $100 no change is given (so it is in your best interest to spend a minimum of $100 to get the full value of your Play Money Reward!)

Do I need to pre-book my experience?

It’s always a good idea to make a booking at restaurants, hotels or experiences. When you make the booking, let them know you will be using your Play Money Rewards voucher. Upon settling your bill, a staff member will validate your Play Money Reward Voucher and $100 will be deducted from your bill.

What days can I use my Play Money Reward?

Please contact the business to make a booking, generally businesses will accept Play Money Rewards 7 days a week, including public holidays.

Tours and Attractions Play Money Rewards

I purchased an experience from the tours & attractions category, what happens after I have booked my Play Money Reward?

Once your payment is approved, you will receive a personalised Experience Oz (or partner branded) print-at-home voucher for each tour, attraction, activity or service booked. This voucher will also be emailed to you as a confirmation of your booking. Please contact us if you have any difficulties in opening your email attachment.

Should I reconfirm my tour?

. For all tour products that require a booking date, it is essential that you reconfirm your tour 48 hours prior to booking date directly with the tour operator (product supplier). Their details will be on your voucher under Tour Operator (Supplier) Details.

If I need additional tour information, where can I find it?

The tour operator's contact details are located in the middle of the tour voucher (or under Supplier Details). Please contact the tour operator directly, or feel free to contact one of our representatives at playmoneysupport@experienceoz.com.au if you still require assistance.

Where do I present the Play Money Reward voucher?

You must provide the original, authentic Experience Oz or partner voucher to the appropriate service provider in order to redeem your tour, activity or attraction ticket. Your reservation cannot be honoured or redeemed without presenting a valid Experience Oz voucher.

Please note that some operators accept mobile vouchers, if this is true, you will see a 'Mobile Voucher Accepted' icon on the product page. For security purposes, when redeeming your Experience Oz voucher, you must present a valid Photo ID and the Experience Oz voucher. This is for identification purposes and helps us to prevent fraud.

I want to change the number of travellers before booking completion - how can I do it?

Edit the product you wish to book on the travel cart under, Review Order, click Change Details and change the number of travellers to get an updated price and availability.

Can I change the number of travellers after I've made the Play Money Reward booking?

Yes. If you need to add more, simply buy another ticket. If you need less, please contact the Experience Oz reservations team on 07 5592 2233 and we will assist you, subject to our refund and cancellation policy. If your booking involves seating requests, please contact the operator directly to pass on your request and they will see if it is possible.

Can I make a change to the date I booked if I need to?

Yes. If you need to change the date, please email contact the Experience Oz reservations team on 07 5592 2233 or email info@experienceoz.com.au, and they can assist with this.

What if I need to cancel my booking? Can I receive the value of my booking for another product or service?

The promo code isn't working for me, can you help?

Sorry to hear you're having trouble validating the code. The promo code is case sensitive and can only be used once - please check you are only entering PLAYMONEYREWARDS once. There may be a number of other reasons for this, including that the 60,000 promo code allocation has been exhausted, you may have already purchased a Play Money Reward using the promo code or your email address has already been used for someone else's booking. What is "TicketMates Australia" on my bank statement?

TicketMates Australia is our partner company and handles all of the online payments. The name "TicketMates Australia" may show on your bank statement for any Experience Oz transaction.
